Men of Fangtasia

Sometimes, I confuse things. For example, if I'm reading a book series that has been turned into a movie or television series, I sometimes forget which plot elements are carried over, and which elements are specific to the story line as told in one medium or the other. I've read all of the Sookie Stackhouse books. I've also watched all available episodes of True Blood. Now, I know in the book series Eric and the other vamps of Fangtasia put out a vamp pin-up calendar. I don't remember if this particular event has been mentioned in the show (it really isn't that important), but whether or not it has, those wise, wise marketing execs at HBO apparently thought a vamp pin-up calendar was something the public needed.

Who am I to argue with genius?

Yes, I snagged this from Perez Hilton's site. I can only hope he stole it from HBO first and that this isn't just a photo manip meant to entice without purpose. I want a calendar!

Valley of the Dolls

Charlaine Harris's Sookie Stackhouse books have spawned a television show, True Blood. True Blood has, it seems, spawned a line of paperdolls.

Oh yes, that is correct.

Andy Swist is an illustrator and graphic designer who has put his talent to use in the form of 4 paper dolls based on the True Blood series. To check out the dolls, (Bill, Sookie, Pam, and Lafayette), please click here.

(Am I the only one who thinks this looks nothing like Sookie? No offense to the artist intended. Bill is pretty spot on. Lafayette is close. I just don't see the resemblance in the women.)

Vampire Con 2009

This weekend, August 14-16, marks the date for Vampire Con 2009 held in Hollywood California. Full schedule of events and ticket prices are available for easy viewing. Events include multiple film screenings, contests, panels, and vendors. Sunday evening boasts a Vampirella Ball, with costume strongly suggested.

My jealousy can barely be contained in this blog box! Oh please make it out there if you are in the area and send us lots of bloody details.

Politics, Humor, Vampire...

...this picture says more than any words can express.

Alex Ross is responsible for this painting. Obviously political in nature, a message none of us have the strength or desire to discuss, I personally find the picture funny and definitely worthy of a blurb in our blog. I just love seeing vampires getting more and more fangtime within current day pop culture.

Vampire Barbie???

A recent article announced that Mattel will be producing plastic replicas of the Twilight saga characters.

These Barbies might not be as flammable as the vampire models, but at least we can have the satisfaction of watching them melt after being doused in lighter fluid. (Kids, please do not try this at home. Parents, I warned them, yet I do not completely disapprove of said behavior.)

For the sake of humanity, please do not force people fifty years down the road to open a time capsule and have one of these burn their retinas out.

Coffin Cats, Part 2

In honor of tonight's episode of True Blood, which I'm missing because I don't have HBO. Another cat in a coffin, living out his fluffy vampire fantasies.

Kitten in the Coffin

I told ya, definitely a link between cats and vampires. I think all those old stories linking cats with witches were just a diversion meant to distract us from the truth. If dogs are (hu)man's best friend, what exactly are cats again?

Charlaine Harris Equals Win

This is awesome. Congrats to Charlaine Harris for accomplishing the impossible. Harris has an unprecedented 9 titles on the NY Times Bestseller list, simultaneously.

Just amazing.

It's Official, True Blood Gets A Third Season

In an official announcement released by HBO this past week, the wildly popular vampire drama True Blood has been picked up for a third season.

The third season is set to debut in 2010. This should definitely keep vampire fans happy.
